Farming Lego Robot
Apr 2023 - Aug 2023
This robot can be used for commercial indoor/outdoor farming. It can sow seeds according to a set program or based on color tags. Before sowing a seed it ploughs the soil to a certain depth by using a rotating plough. After dropping the right seed using a rotating disc it then waters it and smoothens the soil using an attached bar that moves with the robot. After it is done with the task it returns to the original position, shows the distance travelled, the number of seeds planted, and its order. It can also be programmed for different requirements and needs and could make kitchen gardening a lot easier for people with accessibility requirements.

Description
The structure of this robot was made using Lego and Tetrix Kit. A lot of 3D printed and laser-cut parts were used for the structural as well as the functional parts of the robot. (Images for some parts are attached in the gallery above).
The robot was powered using the Lego EV3 brick. To move it forward, two large Lego motors were placed on the front wheels and to keep the traction on the soil, most of the weight was shifted on the front wheels which prevented slipping.
The robot was programmed on RobotC and moved until it detected a color tag and then it moved the plow down using a servo motor and dispensed the right seed. After dispensing the seed, the hole was covered by moving the soil using a bar attached to the bottom. This kept repeating until it hit the wall and then came back to the original position and displayed the information.
